Video Games & Reality

What is reality? A place where everything is real? What does that mean? People say reality is the place where we live our lives and accomplish goals, achieve dreams and all.... It seems great and yet, people perish not only physically but mentally when their dreams fall apart and turn to dust, some give it a second shot and that's when they finally succeed or just taste failure again, then the optimistic keep on trying while the others just give up. Reality gets boring after some time, after succeeding or failing numerous times, life gets boring and thus people want to try living in another universe, a different life......through video games. A virtual reality when you can do whatever you want, sounds nice, huh?

In GTA, you can kill whoever you want and commit crimes, in some games, you play as the hero, saving countless lives and fighting evil, it all sounds fun but every game has an ending. Once you finish the game, you replay it until you're bored and stop living that life again. Some games give you choices that will decide the outcome of the ending, good endings, bad endings and the character's future lives.....

We play video games to get a taste of the character's life, to live the life of a hero who saves the world in the end. Some take the role of a detective or even a deranged killer like in Manhunt 2. What do we get out of these games? Aren't our lives almost the same? We make choices about our actions as in the game where you choose where to go and what path to take maybe even who to kill. Our lives are just as interesting, our lives are like video games, just with boundaries to keep us safe. Life is full of choices as like in video games, just we can't assume the role of a mad killer without going to prison, haha.... Video games are based on life, what you see and hear it's our reality, just with different people, maybe people like playing video games because of the great characters and the great storyline.

We live our lives for about 80 years before we die, it'll surely get boring. However, if you think about it, our lives are more interesting than any video game, why be a zombie-killing survivor when you can live your live as a teenager who's having the time of his/her life going to school and being with friends, just living is interesting enough, man used sticks as weapons and learned how to make fire, isn’t that interesting, to make a discovery like that, then we made various advancements in technology and culture and those who contributed should feel that their lives are way more interesting than video games, just never give up and choose the easy path. Life may have cheats, but they aren't designed for reality. And never give up as it's worse than any game over, you may just have thrown away your future. Too bad life doesn't have a restart button.

Well, that happens to be one of my favourite quotes. Last Friday, our school’s counselling class talked about Steve. Unintentionally, I had lead teacher into giving us this homework, which was “write out your favourite quote”. I wrote quite a few, and thought I should share this one. After reading this quote, I would remind myself if I had been living in dogma. How often had I been unconscious of what people fed me?

Creativity

Creativity is something that cannot be created. It is a precious thing that  can never ever be bought. Creativity can help you discover new things and also to create new things. If someone thinks your creativity sucks, don’t be discouraged by them, but grow stronger. Who are you to please them anyway?? :)

Dreams and Reality

It's already July 2011, time flies so fast...

'Time and tide waits for no man' and I guess that’s true, I still reminisce about the good old days, being with all my old pals really changed my life, if I hadn't met them, maybe I would just be lonely with my hopes and dreams without friends to help accomplish it. Half a year has passed and my memories are fading but they will never disappear as it is like a drawing on the sandy beach, the tides move over it and slowly the drawing fades but it will never fully vanish and will live on as 'memories on the sand’. And the mid-year examination has passed too....I wonder how much all of them got in each subject, hope they all did well and if not, just don't give up as if it is a dream to have good grades, then the dreams don't turn to dust, if we put in all we've got to realize that dream it will no longer be a dream. But then again, dreams can do a lot us; it will provide us with a vision that will never happen or a vision of the future. And reality, it is a great place where dreams become real but then again it is also a place where hopes and dreams perish because of reality.

 As a child, didn't you dream of flying before, but that's impossible, but in the end airplanes and hot air balloons were made and the dream of flying is realized, I guess it can be said we just need the will to go on, maybe fighting a losing battle isn't all that bad, ‘cause who knows, the enemy may make a mistake when at the brink of success and we will emerge victorious. The impossibility of flying was surpassed with the will to learn and try. In short, so what if we fail, we tried and we can always try again, 'if at first you don't succeed, try again’. Success will happen eventually if you never give up and strive to accomplish your dreams and maybe in the end, you may change your fate.

Relationships

Special relationships are something that you share with that special someone, but what if that special someone treats you like dirt and throws you away? Lets just take this as an example, pretend that you are the bowling ball, you get fingered and you get thrown down the alley, then you come back for more. If that person dumps you, then he or she does not deserve you anymore. Remember, you are one of a kind, and you might not notice it but maybe that someone special that you have always been looking for was just hidden in plain sight.

HII!!  Sasha here, I’m a care-free and out going fun girl! Although I can be lazy or annoying sometimes, my friend's love me for who I am!! So what I’m trying to say is to be yourself, don’t be someone you’re not, because what is the point? If that person does not realize what a true gem you are, then forget that person, who are you to please them. =D

Imperfection is the true perfection.

Ever heard of fake diamonds? That they're not valuable?...... That they're perfect?
Maybe your question is "Why is something perfect not as valuable as the imperfect ones?"
Then have you read books with a "Mary Sue" in them? The type of character who is "perfect", plain and has no imperfection at all. I bet you've thought that they lacked character, or thought that the writer was quite shallow.
It's the same with people.
Let's say imperfection is a roller-coaster with equal ups and downs, while perfection is a straight roller-coaster.
Who'd pay to ride the straight one? Would it even move?

An intro...

Hi, this is Melissa.
In my opinion, CW likes to write about goals, the past and the future, about the beauty of life, maybe.
As for Exoen, she wants to write more about the pursuit of the simplicity of life.
Sasha hasn't written many, so I don't know how she usually writes.
I prefer writing about the balance of life. I don't just believe that everything is imperfect, I believe that people have an equal balance of good and bad.

Introducion to MY(Exoen) style of philosophy

Hi and yes this is my first post in this blog.

Okay, CW's philosophy is to the pursuit of beauty in life while mine talks about making life simple and efficient. I LOVE the word "efficiency". But of course there is no right and wrong but what YOU think would be the best.

Decisions

 Most people say that every decision we make in life affects us greatly in many aspects, one aspect is the friends we make. The bonds we make with these special people are strong and will not easily break thus making them unbreakable bonds..........I also felt that the decisions we made affected many things ......leading us to new schools, new friends, new memories to make with those new friends, but then I doubt the old memories will be forgotten as they were spent with those special people, those great friends..............

Sorrow can lead to success.

For all those people who have been discouraged by those sorrowful moments in life, yet never give up no matter what life throws at them, at the most, it might just mean that they injured their whole body but then injuries always heal, but scars don’t, the memories won't disappear but then with those sorrowful memories, they will strive harder to finally reach their goals in life, the finish-line. But after reaching, there are still many other great journeys to be taken. After getting straight A's in the PMR, get straight A's in the SPM too, in the end get a couple of diplomas, a good job, but the journey is not over yet. They might find their other half and have children, grandchildren, who knows what else might happen? The only true end is when life stops, but in the end they will still feel fulfilled if they have lived life happily and made the right choices.

Friendship

Friendship cannot be measured by anything.You cannot judge a person by his or her looks, you must look at the heart, even though she or he is strange or different in a way, you should not judge them like that, a person who judges someone by his or her looks or money can never be a true friend, and will always be hated by people. People like that will never know the true meaning of friendship. I already have awesome friends with me, do you?

Enemies

Enemies, they might find someway to hurt you whether with words or with physical actions. But then enemies will motivate you to improve, making you go the extra mile just to beat them.
Enemies are probably as needed as friends but sometimes they will just make you so furious, but those childish rivalries shall disappear in time and become friendships. The bonds of rivals shall surpass most bonds with certain people as those bonds are what let you improve in making those decisions. But in the end some rivalries shall end up with the demise of something treasured by one party. This tragedy is because when you are trying so hard to beat your friends, you will make decisions without thinking, such as when dared by a rival, people who don't think it trough will most probably end up making the wrong decision thus causing an accident of some sort. Well, in other words, with friends like these, it’s because of these enemies. (I'm not sure if you understand the last part but please try to)

Changes

Changes are natural in life.I guess changes can be defined as the end of something old and the start of something new.Changes can happen whether you want it or not.You can change your future,your life by doing one simple act but then some changes just happen ,who knows when there is a car right around the corner to change your life.changes can happen in an instant but some changes like a kid in a crappy enviroment becoming bad take some time and the kid can't be blamed for growing up in a crappy place.The change of wind and tides can easily affect where your boat is going but you can also just paddle to your destination or set your sail and let the wind take you to nowhere.Anyway, a life without change would be a short road that has no twists and turns leading you to a simple end,some people may think that if their lives were already planned out for them, life would be better but then if that happened, then we wouldn't have dreams anymore.Why sit on the passenger seat on a car ride to your destination ? Drive your own car to your destinations ,and if you get lost, then ask directions from the pedestrians and get to your destination. Change, it happens, and we just have to adapt to the changes no matter how much the change is or else you might as well give up.After an accident, you could either finish your journey without reaching the destination or you could recover and continue your journey , until you reach the destination...Anyway, a person can change only that much, with all that change, i doubt your hopes and dreams will change one bit.Even though your tires might get punctured, you might run out of fuel,you might be pulled over by the cops, but after you solve those problems, you continue on your journey again and finally reach the destination...But then sometimes the destination is too far away , so we've got to get better engines and tires and make getting to the destination possible.In short , change may happen but what we do after the change choices and choices determine almost anything, it may not be your decision though.In the end , I guess I can conclude that life is just choices to make and the consequences of those choices.
